What is the genuine, multigeneration Australian Labradoodle.....and.......Why Australian?

Proud member of the Australian Labradoodle Club of America.

The history of the Australian Labradoodle traces back to the 1980s in Australia when Wally Conran decided he wanted to create a breed of dog that, among other things, was allergy friendly, asthma friendly and would serve as a great service or guide dog.

Initially started as what was a cross between a Labrador Retriever and Poodle, further development and selective breeding with other dogs was introduced by the Tegan Park and Rutland Manor breeders who took over where Wally left off.  This went on like this for many years to produce the desired characteristics the research centers were looking for.

This perfection of the breed has produced the qualities that we see today in this rare dog breed;  beautiful coats, curly or wavy fleece; colors as exquisite as chocolate, red or cream; highly intelligent; low to non-shedding; asthma and allergy friendly; low to no-odor, healthy and not disease prone and a lovable family companion that also doubles as a wonderful service or guide dog.

For these reasons and more the Australian Labradoodle puppy is a much sought after breed.  It is important NOT to confuse it however with a Labradoodle;  unlike the latter which is bred in the U.S. by labradoodle breeders who have chosen to cross-breed the Labrador Retriever and Poodle, the genuine Australian Labradoodle is obviously not just a cross between a Poodle and a Labrador, but much, much more. The differences are clear.  This is truly a one of a kind breed.
